equipping you and your church for mission

Come and think the unthinkable – plan, dream, study, experiment, learn, discuss. Work out how to become the church God is calling us to be! The Programme is designed to help the Church to develop its life-in-mission and reconnect with contemporary society. It aims to answer the training needs of all sectors of the Church by providing cutting-edge courses led by key speakers and thinkers. Additionally, Churches, groups, committees, networks and individuals can book in to use the Centre for their own needs and programmes (subject to availability).
Renew, refresh and develop the faith and spirituality that will sustain you for your life-in-mission! The Centre is a place of prayer, reflection, worship and study. All guests are welcome to join us for morning and evening prayer in the Garden Room, which most groups find spacious enough to use as a chapel area. The annual programme includes retreats, Bible studies, theological reading parties and courses on spirituality – all with an eye to developing faith and discipleship and equipping God’s people for mission.
Make the most of the Lake District – spend time relaxing in beautiful surroundings while we look after you! Use the Centre for B&B, Half Board or Full Board. We have 21 bedrooms, all en suite, with rooms to cater for disabled guests. The restaurant-quality food is freshly prepared and delicious, and we cater for all diets. There is a TV lounge and bar. If you don’t feel like venturing far, why not relax in our beautiful gardens?

ensuring everyone can be here!

ensuring everyone can be here!

The Hannah Fund exists to ensure that no-one is prevented from attending courses at the Windermere Centre for financial reasons.  It was set up by Raymond and Ruth Clarke in memory of their daughter, Hannah, who died tragically as a result of a cycling accident while visiting her parents here in the Lake District.  The Hannah Fund also paid for the ground floor wing that hosts state-of-the-art accommodation for disabled guests.

Guests needing financial assistance with the costs of courses and travel are invited to apply to the Hannah Fund.  Applicants will be asked to contribute towards the costs themselves out of their normal living expenses as they are able.  Some churches have a policy of contributing towards costs for members wishing to attend courses, and applicants will be asked whether they are eligible from these or any other sources of funding.  This is, however, solely in order to maximise the number of people who are able to draw on the resources of the Hannah Fund.

Application Process

Application is usually made by telephoning the Director (Lawrence Moore) or the Head of Operational Services (Andrew Wood) on 015394 44902 to give the reasons for applying and the level of contribution sought.  The Hannah Fund contribution will appear as a deduction from the total cost of the course on the applicant’s invoice.

Ministers and members are encouraged to make application on behalf of others if they know someone who would benefit from a course or stay at the Centre and who would otherwise be prevented from coming for financial reasons.
